The CicLAvia route for Sunday, October 9th, 2011, will be a bit shorter than originally planned. The northern extension will now end at Cesar Chavez Boulevard, with a hub at El Pueblo de Los Angeles/Olvera Street, across from Union Station and adjacent to Chinatown. The total route will now be about 10 miles!
We decided to make this change out of consideration for the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association, which has planned a parade on October 9 in honor of the hundred-year anniversary of the founding of the Republic of China (Taiwan.) The parade will take place on North Broadway in Chinatown. CicLAvia participants are invited to enjoy the parade on foot, and extra bike parking will be available at the El Pueblo hub for their convenience.
We wish Chinatown a successful centennial celebration, and we look forward to bringing CicLAvia to Chinatown in April 2012!
