COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

Job Description

CicLAvia is seeking to hire someone to manage our organization’s relationship with its dynamic, diverse, and enthusiastic community. The position -Communications Coordinator - will play a critical role in meeting CicLAvia’s digital engagement, community growth, and fundraising goals.

The Communications Coordinator has the opportunity to manage CicLAvia’s significant digital reach and works to increase our participants and fans’ support for and connection to the organization.

Working closely with the Development Director and the Production and Community Engagement teams, the Communications Coordinator implements CicLAvia’s digital community by:

  1. creating content for our site and social media channels;
  2. building and engaging with our email list; and
  3. implementing digital fundraising, engagement, and outreach campaigns to enhance our events and organizational goals.

In order to succeed, the Communications Coordinator must be a dynamic, creative, and engaging content creator who can use effective techniques to inspire the community to expand CicLAvia’s transformative impact on our region.

CicLAvia, Inc. is a non-profit organization that catalyzes vibrant public spaces, active transportation and good health through car-free streets. CicLAvia engages with people to transform our relationship with our communities and with each other. CicLAvia makes the streets safe for people to walk, skate, play and ride a bike. CicLAvia produces 4+ car free street events each year throughout LA, and creates the largest open streets events in North America. More than 1.5 million people have experienced the joy and community of a CicLAvia event. We have a large, engaged, and enthusiastic social media following and email list. We trend locally on all platforms during our event, and our community creates phenomenal content at every event.

Position Details

The CicLAvia Communications Coordinator is responsible for implementing our comprehensive marketing, communications and branding strategy to enhance CicLAvia’s visibility and grow our fan to donor conversion.

A successful candidate will have extensive experience with website and social media content creation and posting, strong brand management skills. CicLAvia’s website is currently on the NationBuilder platform and experience on NationBuilder is a plus.

Successful candidates will be a superior communicator, self-motivated, and have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will have expertise in cross-platform content, influencer marketing, and a deep understanding of the evolving media landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Create and deploy website content
  • Execute a comprehensive social media strategy in collaboration with the CicLAvia staff and consultants to increase audience engagement, overall visibility, and fan growth.
  • Manage social media advertising and search marketing (via Google Grant)
  • Develop and execute a proactive social media campaign for each CicLAvia event with a goal of increasing participation, enhancing CicLAvia’s social media reach and engagement; develop creative, on-brand social media strategies to uplift CicLAvia sponsors and partners.
  • Help staff create compelling presentations.
  • Collaborate with CicLAvia staff and partners to identify and share stories that demonstrate the impact of CicLAvia.
  • Coordinate, edit, brand, and distribute content from photographers and videographers; and manage a comprehensive and easily searchable photo library.
  • Participate in, document, and share events and activities that help advance the CicLAvia’s mission and elevate visibility for CicLAvia, including fundraising and outreach efforts.
  • Assist with special projects and initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience and expert knowledge of web-based CMS and CRM systems, NationBuilder experience a plus.
  • Proven working experience in social media, digital marketing, or related other related field.
  • Excellent content creation and digital communication skills to work effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Extremely creative with experience in identifying target audiences and devising digital campaigns that engage, inform and motivate.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize projects under deadlines.
  • Experience as a digital fundraiser a plus.
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish/ English) a plus.

This position starts at 25 - 30 hours per week.  Medical Insurance is available after a 60-day period.

DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

Job Description

CicLAvia is seeking to hire for an important position to join the leadership team.  The position - Director of Development - will play a critical role in meeting and growing CicLAvia’s fundraising goals, with a particular focus on building small and major donor campaigns and strategies.  The Development Director will transform CicLAvia fans into supporters of the organization.  Working closely with the Executive Director and the Board, the Development Director implements CicLAvia’s development goals by 1) building a robust and scalable annual giving and small gifts program; and 2) developing a portfolio of medium/major gift prospects, targeting individuals, foundations and corporate donors.

In order to succeed, the Director of Development must be a dynamic, creative, and engaging fundraiser who can use effective techniques to articulate a clear and compelling and targeted case for supporting CicLAvia’s transformative mission.

Responsibilities and Duties

The duties of the Director of Development will include developing and implementing development strategies, cultivating individual donors and sponsorship partners, and grant research/writing.  The ideal candidate will have positive enthusiasm and experience in innovative individual donor (small and major gifts) campaigns that produce tangible results.

The development director will design, develop and implement our gift program and will be responsible for managing and cultivating relationships with existing major gift prospects, as well as identifying new prospects.  

  • Convert CicLAvia fans into supporters.
  • Work with the Executive Director to develop and meet an annual fundraising goal in a $1.8 million annual organizational budget.
  • Create and implement small and major gifts campaign strategy that will serve as a foundational communication and marketing plan for donors and supporters.
  • Secure small & major gifts at the $100 to $5,000+ level with the goal of raising $200,000 annually with the small/major gifts campaign.
  • Work with the CicLAvia board to increase their fundraising capacity.
  • Work with program staff to develop strategic and targeted funding pitch decks.

Work with program staff to identify and secure funding resources for high priority projects as outlined in the strategic plan.   

  • Serve as a highly effective and trusted ambassador of the organization and its mission.
  • Create monthly reports that accurately reflect activity and progress towards goals.
  • Generate new ideas that increase revenue and donor loyalty

Qualifications

  • A deep, enthusiastic passion for the mission of CicLAvia and its commitment to create transformative experiences that build community and connections with people and their city.
  • A minimum of 5 years of demonstrated fundraising success on the frontlines fundraising from individuals, foundations, corporations and public grants and contracts.
  • Experience in digital platforms for fundraising.
  • A committed leader capable of managing diverse teams to reach a common goal.
  • Enthusiastic about finding creative solutions and opens doors to new donor relationships.
  • Positivity, strong interpersonal and motivational skills, including ease and skill in conveying the mission of CicLAvia.
  • Ability to attend program and fundraising activities on evenings and weekends.
  • Spanish fluency strongly preferred
  • College degree from an accredited four-year university preferred, Master’s Degree in nonprofit administration and management a plus.
