What kind of Volunteer Opportunities are there?
All volunteer opportunities focus on the safety of CicLAvia participants on the route and pre-production prior to the event. Opportunities can include:
Day-of:
Individuals: Assisting at our hubs by guiding participant traffic, getting participants to slow down and dismount, signing participants up for our mailing list, and providing event information to participants.
Groups: Help control bicycle and participant traffic at one of our car-crossing points, slow zones, or dismount zones.
Pre and Post:
Data entry in the office, on the ground canvassing along the route, community outreach tabling at events and assisting with packing/unpacking and inventory of merchandise and signage.
How long are shifts?
Shifts can vary by role. Most shifts last 3 hours on day-of. However, several shifts during pre and post can last from 2-4 hours. Most in-office shifts can last between 4-6 hours. Shift estimates will be listed on each position.
What is the minimum age to volunteer?
The minimum age to volunteer is 14 years old. Children under 14 may accompany a volunteering parent/guardian.
Volunteer groups between the ages of 14-17 must be accompanied by an adult in a 1:15 ratio.
Will I need to attend an orientation?
CicLAvia provides an online orientation for Adopt-an-Intersection group volunteers. There will be an on-site Volunteer Coordinator who will be able to answer your questions / assign you a role the day of the event.
