May is National Bike Month, 31 days when we come together to celebrate one of the region’s most popular forms of active transportation.
Here, where we have often been labeled the car capital of the world, it’s an opportunity to reshape that image and prove just how integral biking is to LA.
While CicLAvia is for all modes of human-powered transportation—skateboards, roller skates, scooters, wheelchairs, and anything else you can imagine—bikes are a clear favorite on event days.
If the sheer number wasn't enough to show how much we love to bike, the rich diversity and creativity in bicycles at CicLAvia events should be.
In honor of Bike Month 2019, here are some of our favorite and most creative bikes we’ve seen on CicLAvia routes since 2010.
Our favorite chopper-style bikes
Our top group bikes
Some that are just too fun
This incredibly tiny bike
And finally, the legendary Stoopidtall Bike...
We kind of wish he was wearing a helmet, but you can see more of this legendary bike in this video from CicLAvia—To the Sea.
And if you're looking for more ways to participate in bike month, we encourage you to check out this list from our friends at Metro. We wish you all a fun and safe May and hope that you'll be able to join us next month for CicLAvia—Mid City Meets Pico Union on Sunday, June 30!
