Why We Stay Positive

We are so thankful for the incredible response to our Giving Tuesday Now campaign. You invested in miles of smiles and memories to come. Together, we donated over 1200 meals to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank! It was an inspiring day for the CicLAvia community.

For nearly 10 years now, we shared stories and experiences on LA’s streets and showed what it means to be connected as a community. We supported local businesses, celebrated arts and culture, and were enriched by local gems along every route. Together we celebrated all aspects of LA’s diversity, and what makes LA special.

But these times are truly unprecedented. The impacts of COVID 19 leave no community untouched, and some of our communities are hurting more than others. The challenge we face, we face together - knowing our goal is to protect public health and to flatten the curve. More than ever before, CicLAvia’s core values of connection, inclusion, and community guide us.

With every day that passes our vulnerable communities, essential workers, and local businesses depend on all of us for support. We wear facemasks as a sign of unity and community. We walk, bike, jog, and rediscover our own neighborhood streets all over again.

We lift up the work of our community partners, active transportation and mobility partners, arts & culture-makers and frontline workers as they address the public health crisis impacting our daily lives. We champion our dedicated public transit team, who provide our essential workers with a safe, efficient means of travel when they need it most. And at day’s end, we must listen to our communities most in need so we can act.

Thank you for helping make CicLAvia an iconic LA institution. Together, we created a model that embraces the best of who we are as Angelenos. That's something we can all be proud of. We social-distance today, to prepare for the day we can come back together. We stay connected, and we stay positive because the world will open up again, and CicLAvia will be there to bring us confidently back together.

In the meantime, we watch out for each other, take care of each other, and smile together (under our face masks).
