🏛️ The Metro Link US Project proposes new elevated run-through tracks to enhance operational flexibility, expand capacity at Los Angeles Union Station (LAUS), and prepare for future high-speed rail service. 🎨 Visionary artists Mark Mothersbaugh (Devo) and Beatie Wolfe invite you to take part in the relaunch of their collective art demo, Postcards For Democracy, ahead of the 2024 election. At the Postcards for Democracy booth you will be able to design your postcard from different art supplies to send into the campaign with a big exhibition of the cards to follow. Postcards for Democracy 2024 is supported by The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation.

Along the Route:
🎨 As you head across the 6th Street Bridge, look for images from LA River X, a public humanities project showcasing river stories that might otherwise be lost to history. The project invites everyday people to show what the river means to them, through photography, artwork, writing, sound, and video. At CicLAvia, a selection of LA River X images will augment your river view from the bridge, showing the river many miles upstream, downstream, and right where you are. 🟢 Eastside Flea is an outdoor marketplace with local craft, food and drink vendors plus live music located in the parking lot at Eastside Rehearsal, LA's premier musician owned and operated music studio in Boyle Heights.
🎨 Join Las Fotos Project and East LA Film Shop for a photowalk! Meet at Las Fotos Project (2210 E Cesar E Chavez Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90033) at 10:00 am to explore the gallery and prepare to head out at 10:30 am. East LA Film Shop will be on site in case you would like to pick up some film! (They will also be around throughout the event if you would like to drop film off to be developed!) They will walk along the CicLAvia route from Las Fotos Project to the 6th Street Bridge and back, and will be led by one of East LA Film Shop’s owners, Jenny! Bring comfy shoes, water, and whatever else you may need to participate! This activity is for girls, women, and gender expansive individuals of all ages. Las Fotos Project will also have their gallery space open from 9-1 and will be offering free portraits from 11-1 pm. Stop by and check it out!
🎨 Los Angeles-based artist Audrey Chan has created an illustrated interactive story map inspired by community stories embedded within the Heart of Los Angeles corridor. Throughout the route, look for signs featuring neighborhood histories and scan the QR codes to learn more about some of the people, places, and struggles that flow through Los Angeles’ history and recent past.
