Road to CicLAvia - Lunch in SELA

by Ronnie Takkens, CicLAvia blogger

One of my favorite parts of CicLAvia is exploring new places for lunch or a fast snack. Fortunately, Southeast Los Angeles offers plenty of options! Here are just a few places where I've enjoyed lunch on my Road to CicLAvia, but believe me: there are many more amazing places to discover!

Sushi Mexican-style at Sushinaloa

Sushinaloa is a small sushi restaurant in Lynwood with a Sinaloa twist. It's unique placement lets you sit outside and close to the road, so even when you’re having lunch, you won't miss any of the CicLAvia action. Sushinaloa has a lot of sushi roll and seafood options, and I especially liked their Aguachile.

For sushi like you've never tried before, check out Sushinaloa along the route at 10350 Long Beach Blvd in Lynwood.

Classic tacos & burritos at La Taquiza

When I saw La Taquiza on Tweedy Mile, I just knew I had to stop by. It's a classic Mexican restaurant with a buffet of authentic Mexican guisos (stews), toppings and salsas to make your tacos exactly the way you like them. I had the Asada burrito and enjoyed it immensely: well made with fresh ingredients. Their menu is huge and their prices are right. As Annette mentioned on Instagram, this is a new favorite spot!

You can find La Taquiza at the Tweedy Marketplace Shopping Center, 4149 Tweedy Blvd in South Gate.

A quick bite at El Gallo Giro

El Gallo Giro is a Mexican fast food restaurant with three locations in Los Angeles - you may have visited El Gallo Giro when you participated in CicLAvia - The Valley. I love stopping at El Gallo Giro for lunch or a small snack from their bakery. Staff is friendly and the setting is colorful and lively.
